FirstRecall is an open-source Obsidian plugin for turning your notes into active-recall study material. It starts with a familiar frustration: you saved something worth learning, but rereading it doesn’t mean you can recall it when you need it.

The plugin creates a Note Brief and section study cards, then lets you attempt an answer before revealing the source. Your source Markdown stays unchanged. You choose the AI provider that generates the material, including supported cloud, local, and terminal options.

FirstRecall is licensed under GNU GPLv3 only, with no FirstRecall subscription. Your chosen AI provider may have its own costs and terms.
